South Korea proposes talks with North on peace treaty

South Korea called for talks with North Korea on working out a lasting peace treaty to end five decades of Cold War confrontation on the Korean peninsula. It hopes to present the sensitive issue at inter-Korean ministerial talks due to start in Pyongyang on Tuesday. The Koreas have been technically at war ever since the 1950-1953 Korean War and have yet to replace the armistice that ended the conflict with a proper peace treaty.Full Story
