The lawyer for Maher Arar says he’s counting on a public inquiry to clear his client’s name of unwarranted allegations of terrorist activity. Lorne Waldman, in his closing arguments, suggested to Justice Dennis O’Connor that Arar is entitled to such a finding given the weight of evidence. Waldman also argued forcefully that Canada should never share anti-terrorist intelligence with what he called “rogue states” like Syria.
