WTO ‘won’t agree deal in China’

Key World Trade Organisation (WTO) members have admitted they will not be able to agree a framework for a new trade deal at upcoming talks in China. But the five members did decide on a plan to conclude the current round of trade talks by the end of 2006. “We want Hong Kong to be more than treading water”, EU trade chief Peter Mandelson said after talks in Geneva.
