Syrian President Bashar Assad reiterated his country’s support to stability in Iraq, rejecting U.S. and Iraqi claims that Syria was not doing enough to stop cross-border infiltrations, the official Syrian news agency reported Wednesday. In a wide-ranging interview with the Turkish TV Sky News late Tuesday and carried by SANA, Assad praised Syrian-Turkish relations and stressed that the two countries were making progress in cooperation in the political, economic and security fields. He announced that he would visit Turkey at the beginning of next year upon the invitation of Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Cezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Full Story
