The spate of community disturbances in the oil producing Niger Delta region has resurged again following the blockade of the river leading to a proposed Naval base by scores of women from Warri area of Delta State in protest against government neglect. Girls and women aged between 10 and 70 years, blocked the river and prevented naval gunboats from passing through. After a futile appeal to the demonstrators to let them pass, the navy were turned back to their base in Warri. Full Story
