Coalition and Afghan forces involved in their biggest anti-Taliban operation have pounded a militant stronghold in southern Afghanistan, killing about five rebels, the coalition said. The air and ground assault was launched overnight in the Panjwayi area in Kandahar province which has been the focus of intense military action in recent months including Operation Mountain Thrust launched mid-May.
