In about a month, unless Congress acts, the U.S. Army will run out of money to pay its troops, two senior House Democrats said July 26. Congress will have to “reprogram” $4.3 billion to keep the Army from running out of money to pay soldiers for the final five weeks of the fiscal year, Reps. John Murtha, D-Pa., and David Obey, D-Wis., said during a press conference. “We have to pay the troops, so we’re going to have to reprogram,” Murtha said. That means Congress will have to “take money out of some of the critical needs that we need to fight the war,” he said. Full Story
