US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pressed her Chinese counterpart to do more to convince the Sudanese government to allow the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force to the war-ravaged Darfur region, officials said. Rice and her top aides met Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly for talks on a variety of issues, but the crisis in Darfur dominated the discussions, US officials said.
