Asia instability ‘biggest threat’

INSTABILITY in Northeast Asia from the first sign of nuclear proliferation there in more than 40 years poses the greatest global threat to Australia’s national interest, according to leading defence experts. Paul Dibb, of the ANU Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, said the North Korean nuclear test should redirect national foreign policy focus back to the region containing our largest trading partners – Japan, China and South Korea.
