FIJI’S military commander Frank Bainimarama snubbed the country’s powerful indigenous chiefs, failing to attend a meeting called to negotiate a resolution to his explosive stand-off with the Government. Commodore Bainimarama sent his apologies yesterday to the meeting of the 51-strong Great Council of Chiefs, which holds a constitutional and advisory role in Fiji. Full Story
