Indian troops based in revolt-hit Kashmir have shot dead a Muslim village chief, sparking anti-government protests, the army and witnesses said. They said Sanaullah Magray was killed when he was heading towards a mosque in Targam village, near the highway town of Qazigund, south of Srinagar, in the early hours of Sunday. “It is an unfortunate incident. He got killed when he moved into an ambush area and ignored repeated warnings to stop,” said Atul Malhotra, an army spokesman. Full Story
