Ontario has announced plans to create a new emergency warning system. The so-called “Alert Ontario” system would help make citizens aware of situations ranging from routine warnings to life-threatening threats. Jay Hope, Ontario’s commissioner of emergency management, announced Saturday the idea is to expand upon the province’s Amber Alert system. With the proposed new system, three levels of alerts would be used to inform the public of red alerts, amber alerts and a third level of alerts for lower-priority messages. Full Story
