South Korea Raises Export Growth Forecast

The South Korean government raised its forecast for export growth this year to 12.8% from its January estimate of 10.4%, prompted by a steady global economy and robust sales of its mainstay exports. But the government lowered its trade surplus target to $15 billion from $17 billion — compared with last year’s $16 billion — because it expected domestic consumption to recover and international oil prices to rise, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy on Sunday.
