Russia’s decision to temporarily close regional offices of the British Council cultural body is “totally unacceptable,” Prime Minister Gordon Brown said as he urged Moscow to reverse the move. “It is totally unacceptable action that has been taken, or has been mooted by the Russian government,” he said, adding that the British Council “does a tremendous job both in Russia and in every part of the world.
