Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano spewed lava and huge smoke clouds on Wednesday, showering villages with ash and rocks and forcing hundreds of residents to flee. Tungurahua, which means “Throat of Fire” in the native Quichua language, is 80 miles (130 km) south of the capital, Quito.
