Ecuador volcano spews rock, hundreds evacuated

Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano spewed lava and huge smoke clouds on Wednesday, showering villages with ash and rocks and forcing hundreds of residents to flee. Tungurahua, which means “Throat of Fire” in the native Quichua language, is 80 miles (130 km) south of the capital, Quito. It last erupted in August 2006 and has been rumbling and belching rock, gas and ash since January. Full Story
