Agility Robotics CEO Peggy Johnson told Mobile World Live the company is now focussed on the tough business of regulation, safety and manufacturing at scale as its humanoid robot Digit continues to be deployed in real-world logistics environments. Safety is now top of the agenda, with Johnson revealing the company already has “the first prototype together in our labs” for what it calls cooperative safety, enabling robots to work in close proximity with humans. It is targeting early 2027 for full commercial availability of the machines. Johnson acknowledged safety “is not maybe quite as sexy” as other aspects of robotics, but stressed it is “absolutely a must if we are to have these devices operating in our human world”. She said Agility Robotics is actively participating in drafting emerging global standards for humanoid robots, with early frameworks expected in 2026.
