Apple is developing its first robotic hardware product under internal codename J595, featuring a roughly 9-inch display mounted on a motorized arm capable of full 360-degree rotation. Rather than acting as a humanoid butler, the device uses voice recognition to automatically rotate and track speakers during video calls and home management tasks. Industry reporting indicates the premium smart display is targeted to debut at an estimated price point of around $1,000, sitting well above Apple’s base $299 HomeView model. Persistent engineering hurdles and complex AI integration challenges have led developers to eye a release window stretching into late 2027 or 2028. The hardware initiative directly inherits robotics engineering talent and concepts originating from the remnants of Apple’s canceled autonomous vehicle, Project Titan research.
