Apptronik spins off Elevate to focus on heavy-duty robotics tasks

Austin-based robotics company Apptronik has announced the launch of a new subsidiary called Elevate Robotics. The new company will focus on industrial automation beyond the human form factor, aiming to tackle heavy-duty tasks that go beyond the capabilities of traditional robots. Elevate Robotics will operate independently from Apptronik and be led by CEO Paul Hvass, co-founder of Plus One Robotics. The team includes key members from the original Apollo development group, as well as experienced engineers and builders from across the industrial automation sector. Apptronik says Elevate is designed to take the company’s decade of robotics development—including more than 15 advanced robotic systems—and apply it to new, high-impact use cases. While Apptronik continues to focus on advancing humanoid robotics through Apollo, Elevate will concentrate on multipurpose, superhuman robots capable of redefining industrial-scale work. “We founded Apptronik to build general purpose robots that empower humans,” said Jeff Cardenas, Apptronik co-founder and CEO. “Elevate shares Apptronik’s core, human-centered DNA and vision of building robots to help humanity, and they’re applying novel technology to tackle heavy-duty tasks in various sectors.” Hvass and his team plan to use Elevate’s technology in areas where traditional automation has struggled to deliver flexible, scalable solutions. This includes labor-intensive work in logistics, materials handling, and other industries that require force, precision, and adaptability.
