Brainy US humanoid robot shocks internet by doing laundry like a pro

One of the perks of being the CEO of a robotics company is that you get to use the world’s largest technologies and show them off to potential consumers. Figure AI’s CEO, Brett Adcock, recently took to X to share the company’s latest humanoid robot, Figure 02’s capabilities. The footage showed the humanoid robot grabbing garments from a basket and depositing them into the washing machine. It cannot completely operate the machine alone, but even doing what it did is a big step towards automation. Earlier in February this year, Figure revealed Helix, their generalist Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, which can unify perception, language, and human understanding. Helix is the brain behind this robot. Helix enables a novel approach to upper-body manipulation control. It can also operate simultaneously on two robots and provide multi-robot collaboration. On the thread, Adcock also shared another video that showed Figure 02 doing the same task at the office, stating they’ve been doing the same for over a month. “It’s exciting to see Helix running in real homes,” he wrote on X. Figure 02 isn’t exactly the first-of-its-kind humanoid robot getting ready to do manual tasks. 1X Technologies is developing the Neo Gamma robot, which also iffesr similar capabilities like object manipulation, human-like movements. It’s geared towards domestic usage.
