Networking giant Cisco has unveiled new networking silicon, routers, and switches aimed at the latest generation of AI networks, a direct challenge to Broadcom and Nvidia’s networking chips. Cisco’s Silicon One G300 switch chip will aid communication between AI systems. The company expects the G300 to speed AI computing by 28% by rerouting network data in milliseconds and delivering 33% better link utilization. The G300 and new systems introduce 102.4 Tbps performance, rivaling competitors’ top chips in speed.“With Silicon One, the differentiation isn’t just bandwidth,” Rakesh Chopra, Cisco’s senior vice president and Silicon One fellow, told Data Center Knowledge in an interview. “It’s how efficiently we drive AI workloads and how we future-proof infrastructure through programmability.”
