DarkSword threatens unupdated iPhones

In March 2026, cybersecurity researchers found yet another reason for Apple users to make sure their devices are always up to date. While browsing public information on GitHub, white hat hackers stumbled upon an iOS exploit known as DarkSword. They discovered that someone had leaked the latest version of the tool online, allowing anyone to use it to gain unauthorized access to iOS devices. Upon discovery, multiple researchers tested it on their own devices, confirming that the full-chain exploit poses a credible threat and is widely available to anyone. What makes this exploit a serious threat is that it does not necessarily require a user mistake. An Apple user can visit an infected website or click on a malicious link to get infected. The threat remains active on unupdated iPhones, putting the devices of hundreds of millions of people at risk of cyberattacks.

Full report : Apple says it will release rare “backported” patches to protect iOS 18 users from DarkSword, a hacking technique that silently takes over iPhones running iOS 18.
