Eli Lilly Teams Up with Hong Kong’s Metis in $1.1 Billion Deal to Advance AI Nanoparticle Discovery

Eli Lilly has entered into a strategic partnership with Hong Kong-based Metis TechBio valued at up to $1.1 billion. Under the agreement, Lilly gains access to Metis’ proprietary AiLNP platform, an artificial intelligence algorithm designed to discover and optimize ionizable lipids. The collaboration aims to improve targeted drug delivery, tissue penetration, and the stability of lipid nanoparticles used in advanced genetic and RNA therapeutics. Metis will receive an upfront payment in the low double-digit millions, along with potential development milestones and commercial royalties. The agreement underscores Lilly’s broader strategy of combining artificial intelligence with specialized delivery technologies to accelerate drug development.
