Enterprise IT teams are hitting a new kind of scaling wall, and it isn’t just more endpoints, more SaaS apps, or more alerts. It’s the rapid spread of AI tools and agentic workflows, often adopted faster than policy, security, and operational processes can keep up. The result is a scalability paradox: the tools meant to accelerate work can quietly create so much identity and access overhead that teams respond by slowing everything down. Many organizations are already living this tension. New Agentic IAM research from JumpCloud found that 46% of organizations allow high-risk AI actions without human approval. Meanwhile, 55% lack a centralized way to shut down AI agents quickly when something goes wrong. Only 41% have visibility or audit trails for agent activity, and just 17% assign dedicated accountability for AI agent security. In other words, adoption is happening, but governance is lagging.
