Google is piloting an experimental feature allowing Gemini to place routine phone calls to local businesses on behalf of users through a feature called Call for Me. The feature lets Gemini AI assistant to navigate automated phone trees, wait on hold, introduce itself to representatives, and complete tasks such as checking store inventory or booking appointments. Users can follow along in real time with a live transcript of the call on their screen and manually take over the conversation at any moment. The early preview is initially rolling out exclusively to Pixel users in the United States who are enrolled in the Phone by Google public beta with a Gemini Advanced subscription.
