Rio Rancho residents raise concerns over rocket and missile production facility

Can you live safely next to a rocket factory? That’s the question people in Rio Rancho had for a rocket manufacturing and testing facility that may make Sandoval County home. Rio Rancho held a public meeting for the public to ask questions and get more information. “What are you guys going to do to make sure that you don’t have an insider threat that are absolutely critical that are not only on your facility but national security as well,” said a resident at the meeting. The leadership of Castelion answered their questions about noise pollution, health risks, and environmental impacts. “No synthesis, no heavy chemical processes like that on site. In addition, nothing will be launched on site,” said Andrew Kreitz, CFO, Castelion. The company assured neighbors the factory would be safe. “We can’t find a record of anyone who’s near a solid rocket facility where there was incident and someone in the community was harmed,” said Kreitz. “We do not used any processed water in the production of solid rocket motors.” Sandoval County commissioners already approved $125 million in industrial revenue bonds for the development.
