In a world where cyber threats are organised, cyber defence needs to present a united front. Singing to this tune, SailPoint, an enterprise security leader, has extended their arms of collaboration with CrowdStrike. To improve visibility and response in the face of serious identity-based security threats, the company announced new integrations between its SailPoint Identity Security Cloud and the CrowdStrike Falcon platform. “Adding identity context to Security Operations Centre workflows helps security teams understand not only what is happening, but who is involved and what access may be affected,” says Chandra Gnanasambandam, EVP of Product and CTO at SailPoint. “Through integrations with the CrowdStrike Falcon platform, SailPoint customers can connect identity and threat data to support faster, more informed security decisions.” Identity threats are cyber risks that exploit various types of digital identities instead of targeting traditional vulnerabilities, making them harder to detect using traditional tools. While still prevalent, compromised credentials are not the only identity threats looming large in an organisation. In the current hybrid workspace employed by enterprises, this includes Non-human Identities (NHIs), such as service accounts used by Saas platforms, AI agents and machine identities to name a few. Having overprivileged NHIs with persistent access and limited oversight is a recipe for disaster as they can be exploited by threat actors, which is why real-time access modelling and risk visibility tools are a necessity for enterprises.
