In its fourteenth test launch, SpaceX’s supersized Starship successfully reached Earth orbit for the first time, progressing past the suborbital trajectories of all previous flights. During the ascent and orbital phase, the spacecraft carried and deployed 26 next-generation Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit. The mission encountered an unexpected hurdle during ascent when one of the Raptor engines shut down prematurely. Because redundant propulsion and onboard systems operated stably despite the engine loss, flight controllers opted to press forward into orbit.
