UK firm teases humanoid robot built to solve real-world industry tasks

AUK-based AI and robotics startup, Humanoid, has unveiled a teaser video showcasing its ambitious vision of a future where robots work alongside humans in everyday settings. The new reel showcases its general-purpose humanoid robot, HMND 01’s alpha prototype, which is expected later this year. According to the firm, the initial model will feature wheeled and bipedal designs, tailored for pick-and-place tasks in logistics, retail, and manufacturing. “Unlike many other humanoid robotics companies, we’re developing Humanoid with a focus on solving actual problems with practical, market-ready solutions rather than just doing research in the lab,” said Artem Sokolov, founder of Humanoid, in a statement. Founded in 2024, the robotics company aims to develop the world’s leading, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. In February, the firm unveiled its first humanoid robot, HMND 01—a next-generation labor automation unit designed for versatility and commercial use. Standing at 175 cm (5’9″) and weighing 154 pounds (70 kilograms), HMND 01 can walk at speeds of up to 1.5 m/s (3.3 mph) and carry loads of up to 33 pounds (165 kilograms). With an average battery life of four hours, the robot is built to handle a wide range of tasks across industrial and domestic settings. According to the company, HMND 01 achieves human-level or faster manipulation speeds and can precisely navigate tight spaces. Its modular design allows users to swap out upper-body, lower-body, and end-effector components. It offers cost flexibility and makes it suitable for warehouse applications, retail, and even home environments, according to Drives & Control.
