Ukraine says Nvidia Jetson gear found in Russian S-71M missile

Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) claims to have discovered a consumer-grade Nvidia Jetson Orin computer module in the new S-71 ‘Monochrome’ cruise missile, used by Russia in the ongoing war between the two countries. Nvidia closed its offices in Russia back in 2022, and ceased direct sales to the country, following the outbreak of the war. The Jetson Orin NX 16GB unit in the missile was released a year later, suggesting that the component made its way to Russia through other means. “Pre-owned Jetsons are available through many reseller channels,” Nvidia said in a statement. “Although we cannot track products after they are sold, if we determine that any customer is violating US export controls, we will take appropriate action.” HUR said that it found some 35 electronic components in the missile that should be export-controlled.
