4.1 Million Impacted by AdaptHealth Data Breach

AdaptHealth breach exposes data of over 4 million patients.

AdaptHealth reported that a June intrusion into its cloud systems allowed a threat actor to steal names, contact details, demographic data and health insurance information for more than 4.1 million people, though Social Security and financial data were not taken. The attacker gained access by compromising a contractor’s user session and also stole a password file tied to insurance billing. HHS has added the incident to its breach portal, alongside a separate June hack at Baylor Genetics that exposed medical test data, insurance information and Social Security numbers for roughly 2.8 million individuals. Both breaches involved large volumes of protected health information taken from clinical and patient‑management systems.
