Israel Ranks as the World’s Second-Most Targeted Country for Cyberattacks, Microsoft Report Finds

According to Microsoft’s annual cyber defense report, Israel ranked second globally in observed cyber activity targeting its networks between July 2025 and June 2026. The United States was the only nation to experience a higher volume of cyber threat activity than Israel during the evaluated period. Microsoft’s findings identify Iran as the primary state-backed threat actor behind these operations, accounting for 39 percent of all Tehran-linked attacks. Attackers frequently targeted research institutions, critical infrastructure, government entities, and defense supply chains using credential theft and phishing. To counter these persistent risks, the report stresses the critical need for advanced identity protection, mandatory multi-factor authentication, and rapid intrusion response.
