Russian drone strike kills at least 14 on Ukrainian rail platform

A Russian drone strike on a crowded railway platform in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro killed at least 14 people and wounded others, in one of the deadliest recent attacks on civilian transport infrastructure. Ukraine’s state railway operator said a jet-powered drone hit the platform at the city’s main station as a commuter train prepared to depart for Zaporizhzhia, despite a warning of heightened danger. The same day brought further daytime strikes elsewhere in Ukraine, including attacks that killed people in Chernihiv and at an apartment building in Kremenchuk. Moscow has said a separate six-day humanitarian truce applies only to the Kherson region, where aid and evacuations are being organized for the town of Oleshky, leaving the rest of the country exposed to continued strikes. The attacks highlight how strikes on rail and other critical infrastructure are compounding civilian risk and economic strain as air defense shortages persist.
