Thailand has revoked a 25‑year‑old memorandum of understanding with Cambodia that outlined how the two countries would jointly negotiate claims to an energy‑rich maritime area in the Gulf of Thailand. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the agreement had produced no progress and needed to be replaced with a new framework, while insisting the move was unrelated to recent border clashes. Cambodia criticized the cancellation, calling it a unilateral breach and saying it would now pursue dispute resolution under international maritime law.
