An earthquake struck China on Tuesday, June 16, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured, according to preliminary information from state media and the United States Geological Survey. The 6.3 magnitude quake took place in the country’s province of Qinghai in China’s northwestern region around 5 p.m. local time, the USGS said. The earthquake measured 10 miles deep and was followed by several aftershocks including one that measured at a magnitude of 5.4. Citing emergency responders, state agency Xinhua reported at least one person was killed and nearly a half-dozen others were injured in the disaster.
