Apple to Flag AI Requests for Mac Data Following Complaints Over Meta’s Muse

Apple announced upcoming operating system updates to make it much more obvious when artificial intelligence tools request broad system access. The policy update follows public complaints from a tech columnist alleging that Meta’s Muse AI agent accessed private messages without proper user awareness. Meta countered the claims, stating that Muse’s access is entirely opt-in and requires users to manually enable both Full Disk Access and a specific Messages connector. Apple highlighted that as AI agents become more autonomous, the security risks surrounding deep device permissions will grow substantially. Future macOS updates will enforce explicit user confirmation steps before granting applications extraordinary access to private data.

Full report : Responding to privacy concerns and user complaints, Apple plans to introduce stricter controls and clearer warnings when autonomous AI agents request Full Disk Access.
