Apptronik, the Austin-based humanoid robotics company behind the Apollo robot, has completed an approximately $4.2 million secondary share purchase. Aegis Capital Corp. acted as placement agent for the transaction, with Sichenzia Ross Ference Carmel LLP serving as legal counsel to Aegis. The deal is a secondary investment, meaning existing shares changed hands rather than the company issuing new equity. Apptronik builds AI-powered humanoid robots designed to work alongside humans in manufacturing, logistics, and eventually healthcare and home settings. Humanoid robotics is one of the hottest sectors in tech, with companies like Tesla, Figure AI, and others racing to commercialise general-purpose robots. Apptronik’s Apollo platform draws on nearly a decade of development and work on 15 previous robots, including NASA’s Valkyrie. The company, which spun out of the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, now has 350 employees — a sign of meaningful scale for a robotics startup.
