IonQ yesterday successfully demonstrated what it calls the industry’s first end-to-end, real-time quantum error-correction decoder that runs on a single standard off-the-shelf CPU. The news of this successful demonstration of critical milestone in quantum computing sent the shares of IonQ up over11% in premarket trading on Wednesday. The advance addresses a primary hurdle in quantum hardware by continuously correcting errors in the background without overwhelming processing capacity or stalling performance. Alongside the milestone, IonQ announced it will deploy its Superion 256 system as the first on-premise quantum processing unit at the Nvidia Accelerated Quantum Research Center
