Malware Now Uses AI During Execution to Mutate and Collect Data, Google Warns

Malware increasingly uses AI for evasion, persistence and theft.

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group has identified a growing trend of malware using AI not just for planning but during execution. Examples include PromptFlux, which rewrites its own code, and PromptSteal, which queries large language models to generate system commands. Other strains like FruitShell and QuietVault use AI prompts to bypass detection and extract credentials. Researchers warn that underground AI tools are lowering barriers for cybercriminals, while state-linked actors continue exploiting mainstream platforms for advanced operations.
