Two individuals were sentenced for aiding North Korean IT workers infiltrate US companies.
Kejia Wang and Zhenxing Wang, both U.S. nationals, were sentenced to 108 and 92 months for helping North Korean IT workers infiltrate over 100 U.S. companies using stolen identities. Their scheme generated more than $5 million for the North Korean government and caused over $3 million in losses to victim companies. They supervised “laptop farms” that enabled overseas workers to appear as U.S.-based employees and created shell companies to launder payments. Nine additional co-conspirators remain at large, with rewards of up to $5 million offered for information leading to their arrest.
