Gang coalition unleashes violent new attack on farming community in Haiti

Gang coalition attacks farming community near Port‑au‑Prince.

Armed members of the Viv Ansanm coalition raided the hillside community of Kenscoff, burning homes and killing residents as survivors searched streets for relatives amid communication and access problems. Local officials say the gang targeted a church and properties linked to Dr. Jean “Bill” Pape, reflecting the group’s expanding reach from Port‑au‑Prince, where gangs control most of the capital. The attack comes as Haiti faces record displacement, rising casualties and renewed U.S. deportations ahead of elections experts warn are too dangerous to hold. Authorities have released no further details, and the U.N.-backed suppression force has not yet commented.
