Russia pounds Kyiv region as drone attacks intensify.
Russian forces struck Kyiv and surrounding cities for a fifth straight day, hitting warehouses, wounding civilians and leaving some supermarket shelves empty as Ukraine struggles against fast jet‑powered drones. The attacks have disrupted daily life ahead of the school year, with millions of textbooks destroyed and air raid alerts sounding constantly. Ukraine says nearly 1,500 drones were fired between Thursday and Sunday and is developing interceptor technology while also targeting Russian logistics and industry. Power facilities in Chernihiv were damaged, Russian regions reported casualties from Ukrainian strikes, and officials warned that Moscow is preparing large attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
