More than 300 people died in the past week as Congo’s Bundibugyo‑driven Ebola outbreak grows at unprecedented speed, with over 5,500 cases and fatality rates nearing 70% in hard‑to‑reach areas. Most infections in the epicenter of Ituri are still emerging outside monitored contacts, and experts warn the true scale may be far larger. Congo has received 16,000 Ervebo doses for frontline workers, though its effectiveness against Bundibugyo remains uncertain and rollout details are unclear.
