Hurricane Polo is forecast to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane as it moves near Mexico’s Pacific coast while remaining offshore. Forecasters warned that Guerrero and Michoacán could see heavy rainfall, flooding, mudslides, rough surf, and tropical-storm-force winds through Thursday. Farther west, Tropical Storm Odalys is expected to strengthen into a hurricane, while Tropical Storm Fay is weakening in the Atlantic. The Atlantic basin has yet to produce a hurricane this season, with El Nino conditions continuing to suppress storm development.
