Taiwan Flags Obvious Threat as Over 50 Chinese Vessels Operate Across Regional Waters

A senior Taiwanese security official warned that China has more than 50 naval and official vessels operating simultaneously in a vast sweep of regional waters. The monitored formations stretch from southern Japan and waters off Taiwan down toward the Philippines, reflecting an expanded posture of Chinese maritime activity. Taiwan’s published tracking maps highlighted the presence of 34 warships, including the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning and its accompanying battle group positioned east of the Philippines. Labeling the concurrent multi-area pressure an “obvious” threat, Taipei emphasized that it remains on high alert regarding Beijing’s persistent military maneuvers. The maneuvers underscore mounting strategic tensions across East and Southeast Asia as neighboring governments closely monitor China’s expanding naval reach.
